Keniysha J Watts

In Loving Memory of Keniysha J Watts.

There’s an adage in the Yoruba language of Nigeria that says “Ile oba to jo, ewa lo busi” which means your scars do not define you, they only make you more beautiful. That was the true definition of Keniysha J Watts.

I met Keniysha January 2022 through a mutual friend, and we immediately connected. I invited her as a guest on my platform ‘Evolve by Evore’ to share her story and she gracefully obliged.I saw in her, a woman set at fulfilling her God-given purpose on earth despite her health challenges.

Keniysha was initially diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer in 2019. Soon after, it metastasized to her brain. Keniysha fought hard and against all odds, SHE BEAT IT. But then cancer came back. Still, Keniysha looked beyond the storm and did not let what she was going through tear her down.Instead, she sought to inspire as many women as she could, and she did it very passionately. She was a powerhouse of gentleness and kindness. She was protective of those in her space, and genuinely loved and cared for them. She was very supportive of her friends and never failed to encourage and give them that ‘push’ when needed. Keniysha was very talented. She was a model, and amazing event planner/décor, a published author, daughter, wife, and mother to three beautiful kids. She was very selfless and gave her wealth of knowledge very freely. If you wanted to bring a plan to fruition, but were not sure how to go about it, she was the person to call – a great friend to lean on, and she always took delight in seeing her ‘tribe’ succeed.

Keniysha was a definition of faith and an embodiment of the Christ-like spirit. No matter the circumstance, or the situation, she was always in prayer and calm. She would pray about everything. In fact, if she could, she would pray for every strandof hair on your body, your business, and even your generation unborn.

I remember when Keaondra and I went to see her in the hospital a few months before she passed away. I asked we say a prayer for her before we left, but halfway through, I was in so muchtears so I could no longer continue praying. With unwavering faith, Keniysha immediately took charge and prayed for everything and for everyone that was in the room, their families, businesses, jobs, health, I mean, everything!

I marveled, and at the same time, I was strengthened by her great faith, and it is noteworthy to say that even on her sick bed, Keniysha was still sharing the ‘Goodnews’ and winning souls to Christ!

I’m at peace that Keniysha knew God and has made the heavenly journey to be with Him, where peace and sicknesses do not exist. She fought hard, the good fight of faith like the ‘warrior of faith’ that she was, enduring the trials to her physical health, and no doubt, fulfilled God’s purpose for her life on this earth.

As God promised in Jam 1:12 and Rev 2:10, I know that my girl is wearing her crown of life and looking down cheering us here today. I pray we all continue to find strength and healing in Isaiah 61:3 where God promised to bestow on all who mourn, a crown of beauty instead of ashes.

We love you Keniysha, till we meet to part no more.
